Biomedical Applications

Through close interdisciplinary collaboration, we expect to identify protein interaction mechanisms that will lead to completely new approaches for the inhibition of disease-associated protein synthesis and degradation pathways. This includes the already advanced development of proteasome inhibitors, anti-infectives and protein drugs (biologics) for the treatment of tumors. These are carried out in close cooperation with the medical field. In addition, engineering expertise will be used to develop the functionalization of materials and investigate their mechanisms of action.
